Donnavan goes above and beyond for NCS clients

Donnavan, the superintendent at Louis Nine House (LNH) in the South Bronx, has been with NCS for over four years now. Donnavan exemplifies our “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” spirit as a member of the facilities team working at Louis Nine House and the greater NCS community. He never hesitates to step outside of his job description to help our clients and his coworkers.

In addition to ensuring all LNH facilities are in order, Donnavan also frequently goes out of his way to pick up donations from community partners in his truck to ensure our clients have access to everything they need.

One of the community partners with whom Donnavan frequently coordinates donation pick-ups is World Vision, a non-profit organization that assists impoverished communities through various programs around the world. For Louis Nine House, World Vision connects us to companies' overstock or unused merchandise to distribute amongst our residents.

Last month NCS Options hosted a “Boutique” at Louis Nine House. This event allowed our clients to "shop" for free. Donnavan was able to pick up items from World Vision ranging from clothing, furniture, bedding, socks, shoes, toiletries, water bottles, sanitary items, and more! Check out more pictures from this amazing Options event on our Facebook and Instagram.

"Not everyone is fully aware of the impact that Donnavan has on our clients' livelihoods," shared NCS Chief Executive Officer, Ann Shalof. "Donnavan is truly an invaluable member of the NCS community."

Another wonderful community partner who has worked with Donnavan to coordinate donations of unused or unwanted goods is Materials for the Arts, which redistributes arts supplies, costumes, set furniture, and more to organizations throughout the city. Check out our post about this great program!

In order for NCS clients to thrive, it’s important that we offer them not just housing, but also all of the resources and supportive services they need. Community is integral to this mission. Our work is made possible by neighbors helping neighbors.

We are so grateful to have such dedicated staff, like Donnavan, and generous community partners, like World Vision and Materials for the Arts, to help us provide everything our clients need.
