Dawson's Success Story!
DAWSON’S STORY
Dawson grew up in the foster care system, always feeling alone. When he first arrived at Louis Nine House he was uncomfortable around the other tenants. Today, Dawson credits the NCS team and the services at Louis Nine House with giving him a voice. NCS empowered Dawson to believe in himself, helped him secure a scholarship, and supported him to achieve his dream of going to trade school…something he never thought he would accomplish. He now hopes to start his own construction business and employ other NCS residents as a way of paying it forward.
DAWSON HAS A NEW JOB!
After Dawson shared his story at Celebrating Innovation, NCS Board Member and NextGen Co-Chair, Matthew Hughes was so inspired by Dawson’s speech that he reached out to many of his business contacts asking if anyone was hiring.
A week and a half later, Dawson interviewed to be a porter and doorman at a luxury Upper East Side condo building and was hired on the spot!
February 21st was Dawson’s first day on the job — less than one month after Matthew first heard it!
We are so proud of Dawson and all of his hard work and thankful to Matthew Hughes and the example he sets for how we can all do more.
