Congratulations Juan!
Last month Juan, a young adult living at Louis Nine House, earned his High School Equivalency diploma (formerly called the GED). This was a long-term goal of Juan’s that he worked toward with Elizabeth, the Options Vocational Coordinator. He is now working with the vocational staff to update his resume and look for an entry-level position in computer technology.
If Juan looks familiar to you, it might be because you remember when he was a featured artist at MoMa’s Mixtape exhibit! Mixtape showcased the artistic talent of participants in more than forty community-based organizations that partner with MoMA The Museum of Modern Art through the museum’s Community and Access Programs.
“I think I was born to love art,” Juan shared in 2018. “During my time here at Louis Nine House, I have been blessed to receive so much support. LNH is not only a safe place for me to rest my head but a place where I find peace and inspiration to make my art. The staff makes sure I have art supplies to use and supports my creativity. This 3D painting is called “The Hand of God -- Safe at Peace.” The paper house in the big hand represents Louis Nine House. LNH has been a blessing that was sent to me from God.”
Everyone at NCS is incredibly proud of Juan.
